North announces general availability of Premier features.

Today we are announcing general availability of our premier version which includes new features to help our customers harness AI to reduce their cloud waste, improve spend and security intelligence. Integration is wildly simple, just login to your North dashboard (or create a free account at app.north.cloud) and click “update to premier.”  Once activated, customers can enjoy enhanced features such as Reshaping, RI Saver, and Anomaly detection.

Q: What is reshaping? 

A: Reshaping uses ML to spot where you are over provisioned in your EC2, ECS, RDS & EBS instances. The user simply inputs their ideal headroom preferences and the software does the rest. We also added in FinOps> spend intelligence to model your real savings (post rate optimization) if you were to make these suggested changes.

Q: What is anomaly detection? 

A: AD runs complimentary in the background to spot spend anomalies each day, using your historical spend trends by product type & AWS sub-account. This is automated and requires no setup.

Q: What is RI Saver? 

A: RI Saver helps our customers reduce spend in OpenSearch, RDS, ElastiCache, and Redshift. RI Manager will also model a 3 year TCO and savings analysis for you, dynamically in the app, showing you breakeven points, and 3 year savings projections. RI Saver allows you to reduce spend in non-compute products, as North uses Savings Plans for all compute optimization.

Q: How do I get it set up? 

A: Once you hit upgrade to premier on the home page the app will walk you through setup, which takes 5 minutes, and requires an IAM permission.

Q: Are there any costs? 

A: North Premier has a monthly fee, see our pricing page for more details.

Q: Can I cancel at any time? 

A: Yes, North does not believe in contract lock-in, you can cancel at any time.

Q: How is anomaly detection different then AWS budgets. 

A: AWS budgets have to be manually planned & administered, and you still risk missing anomalies that you don’t pre-plan or foresee. Anomaly detection uses AI to continually monitor spend 24/7, and requires no work to set up. It will already know how much you should be spending each month or day in a given service.
